Relative to the Internet, Spam is mass-mailed, unsolicited e-mail. You don't like it and neither does almost anyone else. But Spam is very inexpensive to do and the return rates high enough for the practice to persist in some circles.
Make certain that you do mass e-mailing only to customers and prospects that have already given you permission. If you're perceived as misusing the information people provide you on your Web site (or from any other source), you will quickly and probably irretrievably lose their trust.
To learn more about Spam and what's being done about it, including legislation, visit www.cauce.com, the home page of the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial E-mail. Take a look at their "True Tales of Spam" section. You won't believe it.
